MICRONEEDLING
Microneedling is based on the skin’s natural ability to repair itself when it suffers physical damage such as cuts, burns, abrasions, or other injuries. Immediately after an injury to the skin, our body begins the healing process, triggering new collagen synthesis.
The SkinPen and Secret RF (radiofrequency) are both FDA-approved micro-needling devices that intentionally create very superficial “micro-injuries” to the outermost layer of the skin to induce the healing process and trigger a number of responses:
- Immediate tissue retraction. The heat from Secret RF causes collagen fibers in the dermis to contract, instantly tightening the skin in the treatment area
- Formation of new collagen. The heat stimulates the production of new collagen fibers, plumping out and firming up the skin to remove signs of aging
- Improved circulation. The Secret RF energy improves lymphatic flow. This induces an increase in oxygen supply to the skin and better toxin clearance to further reduce signs of aging.
ABOUT THE PROCEDURE
The Skinpen and the Secret RF are FDA-approved micro-needling devices that function in a safe and precise manner with a single-use, sterile needle head. A treatment session of microneedling usually takes about 60 minutes, depending on the area(s) being treated. After the procedure, your skin will be red with mild swelling and/or bruising, and it might feel tight and sensitive to the touch. Although these symptoms may take 2-3 days to resolve completely, they will diminish significantly within a few hours after treatment.
A series of 3-5 treatments of microneedling, four weeks apart, are recommended for optimal results. We provide exfoliating peels throughout the 90-day series as well as a post-procedure skincare system. The recovery kit has been specifically created to support the skin remodeling process by reducing post-procedure inflammation and delivering key nutrients that are vital for optimal results.
