VEIN THERAPY

Varicose veins occur when the walls of the your veins weaken and can form as a result of age, pregnancy, being overweight, an inactive lifestyle or related to your genetics. Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure that treats small to medium size varicose veins and spider veins. It involves injecting a solution, known as sclerosing agents, directly into damaged veins.

In addition to diminishing the appearance of varicose or spider veins, sclerotherapy can also reduce pain or side effects caused by damaged veins in the following areas:

  • Thighs

  • Calves

  • Ankles

  • Feet

HOW IT WORKS

Depending on the severity of the condition, sclerotherapy treatment for venous problems can take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. Using a fine needle, a sclerosis agent is injected into the damaged vein. The liquid or foam solution causes the walls of the injected vein to seal shut, so blood is redirected to unaffected veins. Over several weeks, your body absorbs the damaged vein, making it less visible and uncomfortable.

Based on the size of the treated vein or veins, you may need up to four treatments. Pricing determined by the total areas treated. Aftercare is extremely important for the success of the treatment. Your VI provider will review the instructions at the appointment.
